FollowGrid Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the FollowGrid browser extension, operated by CommentGrid ("FollowGrid," "we," "us," or "our"), handles information when you use it.

What FollowGrid Does

FollowGrid lets you load, review, and export Instagram follower and following relationships available through the Instagram session already connected in your browser.

Information FollowGrid Handles

Instagram session information

FollowGrid uses Chrome's cookie permission to check for Instagram authentication cookies such as sessionid and csrftoken. It uses this access only to:

• Show whether an Instagram session is connected;
• Authenticate the Instagram requests you initiate; and
• Detect when the session has expired.

FollowGrid does not display or export authentication cookie values and does not send them to CommentGrid servers.

Instagram profile and relationship information

When you request a follower or following list, FollowGrid processes information returned by Instagram, which may include:

• Instagram user IDs, usernames, display names, profile URLs, and profile images;
• Follower and following relationships;
• Account visibility and verification status; and
• Profile follower and following counts.

Information you enter

FollowGrid processes the Instagram username or profile URL you enter so it can resolve the requested profile.

Extension preferences

FollowGrid stores limited preferences, such as your selected language, and a randomly generated installation identifier in Chrome extension storage. It also uses temporary session storage to focus an already-open FollowGrid tab.

How Information Is Used

FollowGrid uses the information above to provide its user-facing features: checking the Instagram connection, loading the relationship list you request, displaying progress and results, and preparing CSV, JSON, or XLSX exports. FollowGrid also uses limited operational analytics described below to understand feature reliability and improve the extension.

Local Processing, Sharing, and Retention

• FollowGrid processes relationship results locally in the open extension page.
• FollowGrid does not transmit relationship results, authentication cookies, or export files to CommentGrid servers.
• Instagram receives the requests necessary to return the data you ask FollowGrid to load.
• Export files are created locally and saved through your browser to the location you choose.
• Results remain available only for the current FollowGrid page session. Closing or refreshing the page clears those in-memory results and stops an active task.
• FollowGrid does not sell user data or use it for advertising, credit decisions, or unrelated profiling.
• FollowGrid does not allow CommentGrid personnel or other humans to read your locally processed Instagram data.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

FollowGrid's use of information obtained through Chrome permissions complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. FollowGrid limits use of that information to providing or improving its single, user-facing purpose; does not transfer it except as necessary to provide that purpose, comply with law, or protect against security and abuse; does not use it for advertising; and does not permit human access except where expressly allowed by the policy and with any required consent.

Permissions

FollowGrid requests only the permissions required for its current functionality:

• Cookies: Check and use the current Instagram session for requests initiated through FollowGrid.
• Storage: Save the language preference and randomized analytics installation identifier, and temporarily remember the active FollowGrid tab.
• Instagram host access: Request profile, follower, and following information from www.instagram.com and i.instagram.com, and load the returned profile images from Instagram's cdninstagram.com and fbcdn.net delivery domains.
• CommentGrid API host access: Send only the limited operational analytics events described below to api.commentgrid.com.

Analytics and Tracking

FollowGrid sends limited operational events through CommentGrid's server to PostHog so we can measure extension usage, reliability, and feature conversion. These events may include the extension version and language, a randomly generated installation identifier, Instagram connection status (for example, connected or expired), the selected relationship type and result limit, success or failure categories, loading duration and result-count totals, stop actions, and export format.

FollowGrid analytics do not include Instagram usernames, profile URLs, Instagram user IDs, profile or relationship records, authentication cookies, request or response contents, exported files, or raw error messages. FollowGrid does not use session replay, advertising trackers, browser fingerprinting, or a CommentGrid account system. PostHog processes these limited events as our analytics service provider. We use the resulting information only for aggregate internal product operation and improvement, not advertising or unrelated profiling.

If you separately visit commentgrid.com, that website is governed by the CommentGrid Privacy Policy.

Security

FollowGrid communicates with Instagram over HTTPS and keeps authentication information within the browser session. No online or local system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we limit access and retention to what is necessary for the extension to work.

Your Choices and Controls

You can stop FollowGrid from using the Instagram session by signing out of Instagram, revoking the extension's Instagram site access, clearing its extension storage, or uninstalling FollowGrid. You can remove downloaded exports using your device's normal file controls.

Children

FollowGrid is not directed to children under 13, or under the higher minimum age required in their jurisdiction.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect product, legal, or policy changes. We will update the effective date and provide any notice required by applicable law or Chrome Web Store policy before materially changing how FollowGrid handles user data.
